Calvet fruits has its beginning in the decade of the fifties, Josep Calvet, a farmer from Viladecans acquires stalls in the “born vell” first central wholesale fruit and vegetable market in Barcelona, to market their production.
With the construction of the new facilities in 1971, Mercabarna, as we know it today, was born, installed in pavilion G, in the canopies of Viladecans.
The second generation followed in their footsteps and continued with their own production and commercialization until the eighties, when Rafel Calvet acquired the sales stand in pavilion E, stop 317.
It was not until 2014 when Calvet fruits was born, as a result of the corporate union of the third generation. In 2016 arises the expansion of two continuous sales outlets that are our current facilities, located in Hall E 5056-5057-5058.
Calvet fruits is currently a company that has not changed its character, maintaining the essence of a family business. Currently, it has a young and dynamic staff, but with the experience of three generations as the main value, accompanied by offering the best service and the highest quality.
We have suppliers nationwide, to offer the best product in every season of the year depending on the weather and season. We also have local suppliers or km 0, where proximity is a great added value, Baix Llobregat, Maresme, among other regions with great agricultural tradition and maximum professionalism.

Calvet fruits is a company linked to the land.
Its origins date back to the early twentieth century in the farmhouse of “CAN GUARDIOLA” in Viladecans.
urrently it has ten hectares of own cultivation in the area of “PARC AGRARI” in the Baix Llobregat, we have more than 30.000m2 of greenhouses in the municipality of Sant Boi and Viladecans, both hydroponic and multi conventional cultivation, equipped with heating with biomass and pellet, respectful with the environment, thanks to these processes we produce high quality tomatoes with all the seals of “PARC AGRARI” and proximity. Region of agricultural tradition very close to the Central Market of Barcelona (Mercabarna). Privileged location that allows us to offer products with the maximum freshness and quality in record time, known today as km 0.
The tradition of three generations, together with new technologies makes us a competitive company in the market and at the same time close to our customers.
Our main products vary depending on the season in which we are, in winter, our main products are: Chard, celery, spinach, cabbage, cauliflower and green broccoli. And in summer: Zucchini, green bell pepper, tomato (pear, bread spread, cherri, barberry) and pumpkins. We use different varieties of seeds for each season, we elaborate our own winter seed and we complete the other seasons with the best brands, with the objective of offering uninterrupted commercialization.
